Dr.S.R.Ranganathan is a Father of Library Science in INDIA. He creates a law for Library Science. The world accepts the laws as the foundations of their philosophy.

These laws are:

  • Books are for use.
  • Every reader his or her book.
  • Every book its reader.
  • Save the time of the reader.
  • A library is a growing organism.

Our educational institutions are the temples of learning; the Library is the sanctum sanctorum. Bharathiyar true to its motto ‘Discipline, Education Progress’ has accorded a prime place to the adobe of books. Housed in a modern and aesthetically well-designed two storeyed floor. The library offers a feast to the intellectual appetite to satiate young minds. The library is the most frequented place in the college both by students and by the members of the staff. It houses 29250 Books, 120 Journals and Magazines both National and International. It caters not only to the needs of Undergraduate and Postgraduate students but also to the requirements of the research scholars. The library is fully computerized with bar coding facility and the books are classified by Universal decimal classification. The OPAC system enables the students to check the availability, status and the exact locations of the books. The bar coded ID cards Library Card help to systematize the day to day book transactions.

Library is a two storeyed building, and is fully automated with a wide collection of the latest Books, Periodicals and CDs, which is updated every year. The library, which has an open access system, uses technology in efficient and innovative manner. The library functions in a networked environment, and maintain with a server over 20 PCs to support its various operations and services. Electronic resource such as INFLIBNET- N List is made available to all members of the library via internet and the College intranet. The library also hosts DELNET, a digital repository of research. The main objectives of DELNET are to promote resource sharing among the member libraries by collecting, storing and disseminating information and provide networked services to researchers and scholars to supplement their research activity. It contains published articles, syllabi, conference papers; question papers, theses and other related documents, with full text wherever possible.

The library also houses rare books, and articles authored by faculty of the college. Ready reference books like encyclopedias, yearbooks, and dictionaries are also available on the Second floor. The digital library is used for orientation, seminars and programs on research methodology and training in the use of various databases.

AREA

The carpet area of the Library is about 8308 Sq. feet.

RULES

  • All college students should have access to the library.
  • In the library, strict silence should be maintained.
  • Students will only be given books if they provide their Identity Card.
  • On request, book bank books will be given to needy and impoverished students.
  • Reference books should only be used within the Library. The reference books will not be available for free.
  • Before accessing the library, students must scan their Identity Card (ID).
  • It is not possible to exchange ID cards.
  • Students must notify the Librarian promptly if their ID card is lost.
  • Only if the student provides her ID card will books be supplied or renewed.
  • Students are not permitted to bring any printed or electronic materials inside the library.
  • Exchange of ID cards is not permitted, and students must notify the Librarian immediately if their ID card is lost.

  • Before borrowing a book, students must inspect it and report any damaged or missing pages to the Librarian.
  • Students shall replace or pay for the cost of any book lost by them. If one book of a set is lost or damaged the whole set shall be replaced.

SEATING CAPACITY

The Library has a seating capacity for 300 users.
