Perspective Plan
Bharathiyar Arts and Science College for Women (BASCW), a premier institution dedicated
to women’s education since 1997, has a proud legacy of discipline, education, and progress. With NAAC A+
accreditation and UGC recognition under 2(f) and 12(B), the College strives to empower women through
academic excellence, research, and social responsibility.
The following Perspective Plan envisions the next 15 years of institutional growth and transformation.
Phased Development Plan
Phase I: 0–5 Years (2025–2030) – Towards Academic Excellence & Autonomy
Objectives
- Secure NAAC A++ accreditation in the next cycle.
- Attain Autonomous College status from UGC and Periyar University.
Key Activities
- Submit application for Autonomous status with strengthened governance structures.
- Expand industry collaborations for internships, research, and placement.
- Implement Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and strengthen the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
Phase II: 6–10 Years (2031–2035) – College of National Eminence
Objectives
- Emerge as a College of National Eminence recognized for research and innovation.
- Enhance student intake, research output, and patents (IPRs).
Key Activities
- Introduce Doctoral Research opportunities.
- Strengthen Research & Development (R&D) centres, incubators, and start-up ecosystems.
- Build a strong Alumni Network for mentoring, funding, and placements.
Phase III: 11–15 Years (2036–2040) – Transition to Deemed University
Objectives
- Achieve Deemed-to-be-University status with diversified academic offerings.
- Develop world-class campus infrastructure and advanced research facilities.
Key Activities
- Secure patents, incubate start-ups, and generate significant Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs).
- Strengthen financial sustainability through endowments, consultancy projects, and corporate
partnerships.
- Enhance the BASCW brand identity through national rankings (NIRF), media outreach, and community
impact.
Deployment and Implementation
1. New Programmes
- First 5 Years: Introduce 5 programmes focusing on skill-based and interdisciplinary studies.
- Next 5 Years: Add 10 programmes including PG and research courses.
- Final 5 Years: Launch 15 programmes, including doctoral and international collaboration-based
courses.
2. Infrastructure Development
- Construct new academic blocks, laboratories, smart classrooms, libraries, and hostels.
- Create green and energy-efficient facilities including solar power plants, rainwater harvesting, and
waste management systems.
- Establish centres of innovation and technology incubation hubs.
3. Research and Innovation
- Set up specialized research centers in Artificial Intelligence, Biotechnology, and Environmental
Sciences.
- Significantly increase research publications, patents, and start-ups through faculty and student
innovation.
- Partner with national/international research bodies for funded projects.
4. Financial Investment
- Allocate substantial resources for manpower, infrastructure, IT facilities, and advanced
laboratories.
- Mobilize funds through grants (UGC, DST, ICSSR), alumni contributions, and corporate partnerships.
5. Human Resources
- Recruit highly qualified faculty with expertise in cutting-edge areas.
- Provide continuous Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) and research fellowships.
- Expand non-teaching staff to support administrative and technological needs.
Decentralization and Participation
BASCW follows a decentralized governance model, ensuring participatory decision-making across all levels.
The institution operates through:
- IQAC, Academic Councils, and Research Committees for academic planning.
- Student Associations and Clubs to encourage leadership and innovation.
- Active involvement of faculty, students, alumni, industry partners, and external experts in policy
formulation.
This collaborative approach ensures transparency, accountability, and alignment with the College’s vision
of women’s empowerment and national development.
